To celebrate Bluesfest's second artist announcement today and the slew of golden oldies now heading up the bill, we put together a playlist of some of our top favourite rock, punk and folk hits, as delivered by the 2012 line-up themselves. Don't be a snob of the new age and get back to the roots where it all began with these all-time classics, as the golden oldies teach the kids what really is the meaning of cool music.
ROGER DALTREY OF THE WHO
The Who are one of those seminal sixties Brit rock bands that churned out some of music's most iconic ballads and sold over 100 million records while they were at it. They also happened to have some of the coolest musician names ever: Roger Daltrey, Pete Townshend, John Entwistle and Keith Moon. Not only that by they are largely credited for being one of the first bands to dabble in the on-stage destruction of musical equipment, long before Craig Nicholls was doing it. In 2012, Bluesfest brings you the band's lead singer, Roger Daltrey, to perform The Who's most iconic studio album: Tommy. This is one veteram rocker (and one awesome album) worth a watch — so good they deserve three mentions on our Bluesfest playlist!

CROSBY STILLS AND NASH
One of the world's first ever supergroups, Crosby Stills and Nash (CSN) are the folk rock trio who have played Woodstock and the Altamont Speedway Free Fest, alongside The Rolling Stones, Santana and Jefferson Airplane. Joni Mitchell was the opening act at CSN's debut concert and the second time they ever hit the stage, it was for the famed Woodstock festival of 1969. At the time they told the crowd: "This is the first time we've played in front of people. We're scared shitless." Then they opened with 'Suite: Judy Blue Eyes'. Check out those moustaches!
